Brunei Darussalam Expresses Interest to in Investing in Timor - Leste Petroleum and Tourism Sector

Representatives from an international company based in Brunei Darussalam have signaled their intention to explore investment opportunities within Timor-Leste's key economic sectors, namely minerals, petroleum, and tourism. Stratacom Global, the company in question, has formally expressed its interest in engaging with Timor-Leste's government officials to discuss potential investment avenues.

 

The company's interest was made apparent during a scheduled meeting with Francisco Monteiro, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held on a Monday. Minister Monteiro shared insights from the discussion, stating, "Stratacom Global has articulated its desire to contribute to Timor-Leste's economic landscape, particularly in the tourism sector across municipalities such as Baucau and Dili. Moreover, they have shown keen interest in exploring investment opportunities within the minerals, oil, and gas sectors."

 

The meeting, held at Farol in Dili, provided a platform for the company representatives to convey their investment aspirations directly to Minister Monteiro. Emphasizing the preliminary nature of the dialogue, Minister Monteiro clarified that the session served as an introductory discussion. He outlined plans for subsequent technical discussions, indicating the government's commitment to facilitating the formal processes necessary for companies like Stratacom Global to establish investments within the country.

Moving forward, the government of Timor-Leste intends to extend its support to interested investors, guiding them through the procedural steps essential for formalizing their investments. This collaborative approach reflects Timor-Leste's commitment to fostering a conducive environment for both domestic and international investment, with the aim of driving economic growth and development across various sectors.
